CatchIn is built local-first: your captures are yours. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app stores, what it processes on your device, and the little that ever touches the outside world.
1. What stays on your device
CatchIn keeps a local database in its own private container, shared only with its own Share, Keyboard and Widget extensions through an App Group. It can include:
- Captures you save — text, links, images, screenshots, PDFs and files
- Titles, notes, tags, drawers, pins and reminders you add
- Text recognised in your images and PDFs (OCR), so search can find it
- Link preview images for links you save
- Settings — your display name, appearance, toggles, widget snapshots and a cached copy of your plan status
None of this is uploaded to us — CatchIn has no server that stores your content. Your captures are not synced to other devices in this version; they live on this iPhone (and in the encrypted device backups you control).
2. What CatchIn does not collect
- No capture content. Your text, images, files, OCR results, titles, notes and file names never leave your device through CatchIn.
- No account. No sign-up, login, email address or phone number.
- No analytics SDKs. Usage events (such as “capture created”) are written only to the device's own system log and never sent anywhere.
- No tracking, no ads. CatchIn shows no advertising and does not track you across apps or websites.
- No silent clipboard reads. CatchIn only checks whether something was copied. It reads the clipboard when you tap Apple's system Paste button, and the clipboard suggestion can be turned off in Settings.
3. On-device processing
- Text recognition in images uses Apple's Vision framework on your iPhone
- PDF text is extracted with PDFKit on-device
- Search runs against a local index
- Quick copy (codes, emails, phone numbers, amounts, dates) is detected with on-device pattern matching
- Spotlight and Siri results are indexed on-device through Apple's frameworks; you can turn Spotlight indexing off in Settings
4. When CatchIn uses the network
CatchIn works offline. It connects to the internet only for:
- Link previews. When you save a link, the app requests that web page (and its preview image) directly from the website, much like Safari or Messages would, and may use Apple's LinkPresentation framework. The website sees a normal request from your device, including your IP address. The preview image is stored on your device.
- Subscriptions. Checking plans, purchases and restores through Apple and RevenueCat (see section 7).
- Links you open. Opening a saved link hands it to Safari or the app that owns it.
5. Permissions
- Photos: CatchIn uses Apple's photo picker, so it only receives the photos you choose — never your whole library.
- Camera: used only when you take a photo to capture it.
- Notifications: requested the first time you set a reminder. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device; there are no marketing notifications.
- Face ID (optional, Pro): handled by iOS. CatchIn only receives a pass/fail result and never your biometric data.
6. The CatchIn keyboard
The keyboard runs without Full Access, so iOS blocks it from any network access. It reads your own saved captures so you can insert them, and it types the letters you tap. CatchIn does not store or log what you type.
7. Purchases & subscriptions
CatchIn Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store; Apple processes your payment and CatchIn never sees your payment details. The app uses RevenueCat to validate purchases and keep your Pro access in sync. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history (products, transaction identifiers, dates) and basic device information such as OS version, locale and IP address, only to provide this service. It never receives your captures.

- RevenueCat Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
8. App Store privacy label (summary)
- Data used to track you: none
- Data linked to you: none
- Data not linked to you: purchase history (for app functionality, through RevenueCat)
9. Data retention & deletion
- Your captures stay on your device until you delete them or delete the app
- Delete any capture, drawer or sample capture in the app at any time
- Deleting the app removes its local database from your iPhone (device backups you keep are managed by you and Apple)
- Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records as needed to run subscriptions and meet legal obligations
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the GDPR in the EU/UK, the CCPA in California or the DPDP Act in India) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal data. Because your content never reaches us, you exercise these rights directly in the app by editing or deleting captures. For purchase data, contact us and we will help with the request through RevenueCat, or contact Apple for payment records.
11. Children & changes to this policy
CatchIn is a general-audience app. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country); by design it collects almost nothing at all. If a future version changes what happens to your data (for example, optional sync between your devices), this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date changed before that version ships.
